Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Chakrapani Khanal on Thursday said the government has a goal of making agriculture a respected profession, arguing that agricultural development would be accelerated if it is regarded as a respected job.
"Do not love agriculture only in speeches. Required budget and plans should be in place and the government is committed to it. Country's prosperity is possible with the development of agriculture," he while inaugurating the 26th general assembly of the Central Dairy Cooperative Association Limited, Nepal.
The government has a policy to encourage farmers so as to make the country self reliant on milk, he said.
Likewise, other speakers, federal lawmaker Kedar Sigdel, National Assembly member Prakash Panta and State Assembly members Dobate BK and Sarita Gurung stressed the need for bringing reforms in agriculture for economic prosperity of the country.
